Garner and Johnson Featured in Article

SDSU Throwers Brooke Garner and McKenzie Johnson are featured in a Rapid City Journal article detailing their past and present at SDSU.  These two are ranked 5th and 8th in the Summit League Shot Put and 1st and 8th in the Weight Throw.  Throwing has been the best part of the SDSU Track Team's recent history sending many on to Regionals during the outdoor season and winning many conference championships.  Look for these two, as well as Jake Brinkmann and Ryan Ackman, to score big points at this weekends Summit League Championships.

This Day In Track- February 19th

1977- Yes that's '77 as in 45 years ago today.  Helena Fibingerova of the Czech Republic set the world indoor record in the Shot Put.  She threw 22.50 meters in Jablonec, Czechslovakia.  Helena dominated the European throwing arena from 1973 to 1985 but only won 2 medals on the world stage.  The women's shot put is an event of the past.  Only one woman has managed to break into the top-25 throws all time in the past 12 years.
