This Day in Running... March 3rd

2002- Jolanda Ceplak of Slovenia set a world indoor record in the 800m with a time of 1:55.82.  Jolanda is a Slovenian athlete who has never had great success on a big stage.  Her best finish at a major meeting is 3rd at the Athens Games in 2004.  In 2007 she tested positive for EPO and was banned for two years.

2001- Maurice Greene, who set his record March 2nd, 1998, tied his World Indoor Record for 60m.
