This Day In Track- February 19th

1977- Yes that's '77 as in 45 years ago today.  Helena Fibingerova of the Czech Republic set the world indoor record in the Shot Put.  She threw 22.50 meters in Jablonec, Czechslovakia.  Helena dominated the European throwing arena from 1973 to 1985 but only won 2 medals on the world stage.  The women's shot put is an event of the past.  Only one woman has managed to break into the top-25 throws all time in the past 12 years.
